Welcome back to the Jenna Brown Show. Hi. Hi. Hi. It's me, your business mentor, your subconscious healer, your bestie. Hello. Welcome back. Okay, so today I wanna just drop in and really talk about these three shifts that if you can prioritize creating these shifts in your life, , whenever you're listening to this, but whatever quarter you're in right now of the year.
In your business, in your company, in your life, it will naturally, immediately drop you into the energy of overflow rather than survival. So I talk about this tons in overflow encoded, check it out in the show notes if you haven't already bought it. But there is such a difference between overflow and survival and it's not actually the amount of money.
So I mentor people all of the time who are making millions of dollars. Some have eight figure businesses even, and they still are not in the [00:02:00] energetic of overflow. They're still in an energetic of striving and hustling and earning and proving, and I have mentored people who are making $10,000 a month and who are so rooted in the energetic of overflow.
Now, the difference between overflow and survival survival is truly from this underlying energetic current of fear and The energetic of overflow is obviously through this energy of peace and safety and more than enough, more than what I need. So I wanna share with you these three shifts that have genuinely changed so much for me when I look back to the last year and a half and if I think about all of the shifts that I've made, which if you listen to.
Episode one. I just go through a huge long list of all of the shifts that I've made to come into a more overflow energetic state. And this one literally changed my life forever. I think the two things that I talk about all the time and clients don't get it until they start doing it and then eventually they're like, oh my God, you were right.[00:03:00]
But in the beginning it seemed super unsexy and boring and kind of like, I don't really think that's gonna shift anything for me. Probably this and using Profit First. The method of managing your finances as an entrepreneur by percentages rather than amounts. Okay, anyways, but it's not about profit first.
What I wanna talk about today. Shift number one, making this is through prioritizing monthly recurring revenue. I could just talk about this every single day of my life because it has genuinely changed my life. It's changed my clients' lives. It helped my clients go from like. people who are at 5K months to 40 K months, people who are at 10 K months to 16, 70 K months.
It has truly shifted so much and for me as well. Now you might not be in the coaching industry and that's totally fine, but I'm just sharing inside the coaching industry, the industry that I am in, and many of you are in listening, it is very, very, very common for people to flaunt cash numbers.
Oh, I had a. 20 K cash month, the 60 K cash month, A 250 K [00:04:00] cash month. I love that. I think that's great. And also subtly it's rewired our nervous systems and our sense of success and approval through the number at the end of this made up month, this 30 day cycle that you have to have this amount of cash or else you're falling behind or you didn't do as good as you did last month? So last year I really started to play with different elements with money, because here's the thing, what I noticed over all of the years is one, every single year my company has grown. So I've always had the best year ever. I've at least typically doubled the revenue.
I wanna say I think that's right, every single year. And it has been. So wild I remember my very first six figure year I looked at it and I was like, oh my God. And then I was just like, okay, well what if I did everything I did this year and put it into six months instead of a year?
And that was kind of how I got from a hundred KA year to 200 KA year was just doing more. And I think sometimes [00:05:00] clients will come to me and they're like. I'm doing enough and I'm like, dude, you have one $40 offer. Of course you're not a millionaire, right? Where's this going? And anyway, so this was one of those things, and I remember playing with this last year of what if it wasn't about high cash months, what I made this month, but what I made this quarter?
And that started to collapse things and also give me a little bit of a longer runway because the turnaround of 30 days is kind of fast. It creates a lot of crunchiness in my experience in the field. Because it can be so much pressure to make a certain amount of money a month.
And by the way, it's all literally made up, right? If you think of having a nine to five salary job, it's really about what are you making for the year that you care about. in this industry specifically, we're obsessed with our success being tied to the amount of money we're making a month.
so I played with different things where it's well, what if I made, 30 K that I made in the month in a week, and what if I made 300 K that I made in the quarter or something and or in the [00:06:00] year, in a quarter? And I just started to play with different ways of looking at money and here's why.
Scientifically speaking in your mind, we have the ability to have neuroplasticity in our minds, which means that we can create new neural pathways, but our brains are used to running the same neural pathway over and over and over and over again. And there are ways to hack this process so that you can create a new reality.
And one of them is thinking about things in a different way than you have before. So I remember when I was so fixated on I only had X cash a month. I only had X cash a month. I've been at 20 K months, forever and ever. And I started to play with something totally different and I was like, I don't give a literal fuck about the high cash month number.
I wanna play with a different number. So it's essentially a different success metric. And so I started to play with the energy and the number of the monthly recurring revenue number. And if you don't know what that is in your business, this is if somebody is on a payment plan in your [00:07:00] company and they owe you $500 a month, your monthly recurring revenue is $500 a month.
If you stack monthly recurring revenue, AKA, get as many people as possible on payment plans, that is creating stability in the business in the bottom line because you can look at that monthly recurring revenue number and say, oh, sweet. I know for the next six months, I'm at least at X recurring revenue.
Right, and so instead of prioritizing cash, I started to prioritize monthly recurring. Now, this is kind of opposite advice of literally every single kind of it girl in the industry, like a hype girl in the industry. I'm not gonna name names. I'm sure you know who they are. Anyways, they will say that they got their success through prioritizing high cash.
Which is fine, but for me, most of those girls for one, don't have families, don't have kids. They aren't the breadwinner. And I could go on and on about that, but I'm not going to anyways. That was not the case for me. I have up until now been [00:08:00] the primary source of income in the family for the last three and a half years.
My husband was staying at home up until this year with our kids, homeschooling them, and that was amazing. And also obviously that was putting the responsibility of the revenue on me and also I was trying to grow and scale the company. And also we jumped into that, that way too soon, which I talk about.
Everywhere I feel, but regardless. Okay, so I had that, I have three kids. I live in Sedona, which is super expensive, and I had a lot of business debt that I incurred through that is how I invested. I didn't have a trust fund. I had no savings when I started this business. I didn't have money sitting somewhere.
I didn't have. This parent that was gonna pay for me to do things, it was literally just well, I just took out a loan and I'm betting on myself, and so here we go. And so I had a lot of business debt as well, so it was very irresponsible for me and I didn't even like the feeling when I thought about, back then I was probably at 20 to 30 K cash month.
And if I [00:09:00] thought about making 60,000 and then the next month making 20, I hated that feeling. I was like, it just feels like it would be really jarring for me. It feels like it would be more destabilizing for me or more pressure for me to create that again. And I don't like that, whiplash feeling where other people listening to this might like it, but I just know my highest self does not like that feeling. Even if it's oh wow, you made 150 K cash, but then the next month you make $20,000. It just did not feel good to me, even if I'm managing it properly. I just didn't like it. So I started to play with prioritizing monthly recurring revenue.
And for me, it really took me from cash spikes, feast and famine energy or like this month only kind of mentality, and brought me into this energy of inevitability, safety, continuity, and also long-term dopamine, this , dopamine that would serve me. It didn't feel as good to get in the moment.
We love a pay in full. Of course, but it doesn't feel as good to get somebody on a payment plan. [00:10:00] It feels good to a different part of you, the long-term wise, mature version of you. It feels good to her, the dopamine whore version of you, it doesn't love. So I had to learn that that was the part of me that I was feeding, the more mature part of me.
Which by the way, if you don't know this already, this is literally the version of you that you access when you're tapping into overflow. Okay, so what you're really saying here is overflow is responding to this energy of what is stable, not what is necessarily loud and flashy, and oh my God, this is the biggest month that anyone's ever had.
And then next month I'm crying on the floor 'cause I can't hold it and I can't sustain it. So I remember having this shift because I was still at, I wanna say at this time, 13,000 monthly recurring revenue. It was what my capacity was at. I would still have a $30,000 cash month, but it just wouldn't feel as good.
And so I was like, I really don't wanna have 13,000 monthly recurring and have a 50 K cash month [00:11:00] and then have to start back over at 13,000. It was giving me this start over every month kind of feeling. So I was like, what if just for this quarter I prioritize building monthly recurring revenue?
So if you wanna do that this quarter, what I would suggest is prioritizing your high ticket. So not your $33 masterclass, your, I mean, feel free to do that at the same time, but prioritizing your high ticket, getting people into your one-on-one services, your retreats, your high level VIP days and your masterminds your high ticket items, your certifications, that type of thing, and only.
Have a payment plan. So this is what I did. I had no one paying full. I got everyone on a payment plan, and these payments were large, the payment plan was anything from $500 at the time to $3,500 and within one month you guys are prioritizing this and allowing nothing else to happen.
It was literally just monthly recurring revenue is the vibe. I went from 13,000 being my [00:12:00] capacity for monthly recurring to now 30,000 at the time, monthly recurring. It I was like, holy shit. I just doubled my monthly recurring. I'm starting every single month off with more than enough, and now everything I make on top of this is cherry on top.
It changed the whole game for me. It created such a aspect of nervous system stability for me. It calmed my nervous system. It collapsed this energy of urgency that was happening every single month. if I didn't have a launch, work exactly. It was like, okay, that's fine.
my launches are extra money now. I'm launching something this month and it's extra money. I don't actually need it to survive. If you find you still need your launches to be successful. In order for you to survive, you probably wanna have a season of prioritizing monthly recurring revenue.
It ended my addiction to launching, right? Launching is a very dopamine, intense. You're like scarcity, scarcity, scarcity. Urgency, urgency, urgency. It's only open for four days. Like Live. Launching your stuff is very much a [00:13:00] dopamine hit. Having somebody get on a payment plan who could pay you 20 K in full, but you choose to have them pay three K every single month is a whole different version of you that you will be obsessed with.
And then ultimately, prioritizing that monthly recurring revenue created the space for overflow to actually land in my reality. Now shift number two. This is where you're leaning into this energetic of, I still want you to be in desire energy, because that's feminine energy. What do you desire?
But ultimately you are learning how to expand your capacity. So I say this all the time, the everyone says they want overflow, but actually what it is is a shit ton of. Input into your system. And so if you understand that it's kind of like having kids. If you have had kids, you will understand this.
If you haven't had kids, you're understand this, but I'll use this example. So every mom, when they go from one kid to two kids, they're like, how in the world will I ever ? Love another kid? The way that I do this one and every mom that has multiple kids is like, your heart will just expand because our [00:14:00] mind says it's gonna take away something from me.
Our body, our heart, our energy learns to expand, to hold space for both of these children or multiple children. I have three kids, so I've experienced this multiple times and now I have three dogs, uh, as well, and I've experienced that with them. This energetic of being able to expand your love capacity is pretty much the exact same thing when it comes to money and wealth.
Because money and wealth is just energy, just like love. It's a resource that comes to us and we expand our capacity to let more of it flow through our reality. A lot of people talk about capacity as holding more, and I don't like to do that. So if you're using that language in your life, I would suggest you , don't say that anymore.
Because when you start to say, as a woman. I need to expand my capacity to hold more money and hold more, blah, blah, blah. Your subconscious literally freaks the fuck out. Women are not meant to hold. That's a masculine trait. Men are meant to hold, they're meant to hold the container. Women are meant to flow through the container.
So your [00:15:00] job is not to increase your capacity to hold more honestly, it makes me feel like I'm telling my body to get fatter to hold more, if that makes sense. Not to be offensive, if that's offensive, but when I tell myself. I'm increasing my capacity to let more flow through my reality.
That immediately speaks to my femin energy and I'm like, oh, I got it. It's more input flowing through and moving out, and I'm alchemizing more as it moves through and moves out. And when money comes in, I'm not holding it in some fucking bank account, letting it just sit there and get all dusty.
I'm actually giving it a job. I'm saying, Hey, you go over here into real, real estate. Hey, you go over here into savings. Hey, you go over here into investing into a mentor. Hey, you go over here, invest into house manager, whatever. Money does not like, especially with women to be held. And this is why so many women are , really struggle with saving money. I am all for you saving a certain amount of money, but at some point if you are still hoarding money, I promise you you're not in your feminine energy. Because true feminine energy loves to release and let go [00:16:00] because she knows when she release and lets go more comes back to her always, every single time.
So overflow this energy. It's not about that you don't want more, you do. It's really about that you can let more flow through you that your capacity. Is greater. And so what I always say in these spaces is again, coming back to the neural pathway is whatever you have been doing, the way you've been doing life this last quarter, I want you to switch it up this quarter.
So intentionally how I quantum leap, one of the very first things I do when I say I want a quantum leap. So I desire this amount of money and I wanna quantum leap, I let go of money. So there's that. Strategy number one. I let go of money and I invest it into containers that feel very spacious, that I'm kind of like, oh my God, what am I gonna do here?
And I'm letting go of money. I'm investing into things that are going to feed my feminine energy. Let me be in my zone of genius. So that could be, you know, I just invested in a whole backend team. I just invested in a house manager. I just [00:17:00] invested into a mentor, like that type of thing. And at the same time shifting it.
So if you've ever heard one of the best things you can do for your mental health is take a different route to work every day, I'm not doing that, but you could do that. But for me, I can always tell when things are leveling up because everything in my reality that I want to stay the same starts to shift.
I'll go to the Pilates class and it will be in a totally new arrangement, and I'm like, oh, that took quantum leap. Okay, cool. I'm going to work, and two people will cancel their calls for that day. My landlord of my office, be like, Hey, I need to get in the building for blah, blah, blah.
And my kid will get sick and I'm like, oh, I gotta go home and get my kid. And every time you're expanding your capacity to let more flow through your reality, you are going to have more input. It's gonna feel more jagged and jarring because you are literally expanding your capacity to hold and flow through more.
Okay. This shift is essentially creating. Less pressure for you, but also what it's doing [00:18:00] is you have to have the pressure first to then expand the container for the space to be there. Okay? This will help you have less emotional charge around. Everything and your money.
And it's essentially creating a more neutrality in your field. I remember back in the beginning of business, I was selling one thing and I sold it every three days. And now I'm selling five things at any given time in four different places, and I have multiple.
Offers out in multiple ways. People can pay me every single day. And my capacity to sell is so much greater. My capacity to have rejection is so much greater. My capacity to have people miss payments or be mad at me or whatever is so much greater. And that is how we grow in overflow. Okay. So, strategically that piece there of what you can implement this quarter.
Is take a different path. Literally you could take a different path also create a different reality. For me, last year that was a lot more travel. I started to go to so much more in-person stuff over the last two years and [00:19:00] it's totally quantum leap to me. I purposely love to travel and choose travel because it creates this whole new reality that nothing lives there.
There's no game plan for when I go to somebody's retreat. I've never done it before. I've never been with these people before. I've never been to this state before, maybe. And that allows you to literally create anything you want and it's going to expand your capacity. Okay. Shift number three.
This is all about cleaning your money, meaning you want that energy coming through to be crisp, clear, clean, and this is gonna really tap you into the energy of overflow. Now I have clients who do this so well. They do it way better than me, and I'm like, oh my God, this is amazing. This is inspiring.
But ultimately you're going from this energy of money earned through emotional labor, chaos, urgency, over responsibility for people to like clean money that doesn't cost you your nervous system in the process. Okay, so when you look at this, a lot of healer type women we became [00:20:00] so good at what we do because we had to hold the space for people in our lives who couldn't emotionally regulate themselves.
And then we create careers around emotionally regulating people and it keeps us in this weird victimy responsibility loop that we don't have to be in. So there's that you don't have to get paid. For holding other people's mess. you could get paid to just step a little bit outside of that version of it.
I have a client right now who's moving from supporting people in the most traumatic situations I've ever heard of into like, I actually wanna help people expand, people who have already done some nervous system and healing work to step into this next version of themselves. This is you choosing to not still live in the.
victim paradigm, like that you have to save people. And remember, I've talked about this, but maybe you haven't heard me say this. All consciousness is people are playing out either. Hero savior, victim, or the perpetrator. And for most healing spiritual type women, we [00:21:00] love to be the hero figure, but actually what we're doing is a little bit of the victimy energy because we're complaining about the people we're working with or we're like, oh, this is so heavy, this is so hard.
Or does nobody actually wanna change? I have to help them change. If you hear yourself saying that you're probably trying to help a version of your parent or your guardian or your. It's family member and you are being called to step into an energetic that's much cleaner for you. Where it's more of a peer-to-peer energetic and not, I am this hero figure and you are the scum of the earth and I'm gonna help save you.
so this shift is you're no longer being paid for holding other people's mess or you're ending the money loops that require you to fill up your whole fucking schedule, be on 24 7 and essentially alchemize other people's emotions through your actual body. This is, you completing the unfinished emotional contracts, meaning maybe it's friends in your life or ex partners or partners or the way that you are [00:22:00] interacting with your parents or your friends.
Is it like creating this loop of No one is on my level. If it's creating a loop that no one is on your level, I promise you, you're living out your victim little container right there. So close those up. Closing the energetic tabs. If you just take a moment this week and just sit with it and be like, do I have any energetic tabs open?
Do you owe anybody money? , How in the world could you be in overflow if you still owe people money? Do you owe money? Did you forget to pay somebody back? Did you say you were gonna give something and you didn't give it? Did you say you were gonna sign up for something and you're waiting for a client to pay you, for you to sign up for it
I am a person that if somebody on my team invoices me, I pay them that day. I don't want that energy lingering out there. I don't want my payments not going through. I don't want, if I say I'm gonna do something and give something, I wanna be on it right away. I don't want somebody saying, Hey, can you send me somebody's phone number?
And me being like, yeah. And then 10 months from now I forget about it. I am so vigilant about. [00:23:00] Being on top of the things that I say I'm going to do, and also being on top of the things that I say I'm not going to do. This is why I don't think you find successful people who are flaky. I'm not a flake.
I always say my yeses my yes and my no is my no. It doesn't mean I've never changed my mind, but I wanna be a known as a person who, if Jenna says she's gonna do something, she's gonna do it. Period. Overflow comes when nothing is leaking. If you even just go this week and look through all of your subscriptions that you're paying, I need to do this.
Actually, I like to do it at the beginning of the year. I go through my inbox and I delete the people that I'm like, why the hell am I on this person's list? Unsubscribe. Unsubscribe. And if I go through even followers, it's if I'm following people that I'm like, this is taking energy from me.
I'm in comparison energy when I'm on this. This person's Instagram or whatever, that's something you can clean up and who do I owe money to? Did I not give something I said I was gonna give? Is there any outstanding text messages that I haven't [00:24:00] responded to? Overflow comes when nothing is leaking.
You have to see the leaks in your own bucket. So how I can explain this to you, BES, if you wanna write this down, clean endings, equal clean income. If you are waiting on an ending, I promise you that income is not coming through until you make that ending, right? Completion creates space. Chaos based money cannot exist with overflow.
Okay. So to wrap all of that up in this beautiful little episode that's gonna support you , and strategically how you can, immediately just drop into that energy of overflow. You're prioritizing monthly recurring revenue. You are increasing your capacity through creating new neural pathways, and you are cleaning up the money in, you're cleaning it up.
